The Politicians' Forum is an initiative aimed at generating awareness and participation in the meetings industry by local and national politicians and government officials with interests in the meetings industry, while at the same time helping educate them as to the wide range of economic and community benefits it generates.
The Forum brings together political and government representatives with Industry leaders annually at the IMEX industry trade show in Frankfurt, Germany. It is an initiative of IMEX held under the auspices of JMIC with the support and participation of major industry associations including ECM (European Cities Marketing) and AIPC (the International Association of Convention Centres).
The Forum uses a program of industry presentations, case studies of successful co-operation between local politicians and the meetings community, and exposure to the range of international activities at the trade show to set the stage for discussion and debate at the Forum itself. This format enables both participating politicians and industry leaders to share experiences and information of mutual benefit; identify emerging industry issues and consider strategies for industry advancement.
A proceeding is prepared as a summary of each Forum, thus providing an ongoing tool which can be used by both government and industry representatives to pursue ideas and issues identified at the Forum.
Politicians' Forum Objectives:
- To improve politicians' understanding of the value of meetings at a local constituency level.
- To demonstrate how clients see the role of politicians in terms of understanding their needs and providing financial support.
- To demonstrate how politicians can gain maximum benefit from meetings held in their city, region and country.
